Why Branded Swag Stores Are Taking Off

Content

Do you market to your own employees? It might sound a little crazy, but companies that take the time to market to their employees, value them, and even build online shops to allow them to shop for branded
swag have stronger bottom lines.

Happy employees are better employees. They are happier in their jobs, treat your customers better, have lower absenteeism, and stay longer with your company. Whether your company is big or small, all of these things translate into a stronger bottom line for you.

Let’s look at some numbers.

According to a study by Gallup and WorkHuman, one in four employees “strongly agrees” that they had received recognition or praise for doing good work within the past week.

The survey also found that if these same companies could double the number of employees who felt this way, they could see a 9% increase in productivity and a 22% reduction in absenteeism.

“When employees feel valued for who they are and what they do — and are treated like they’re more than cogs in the machine — they act differently, in ways that positively impact their teams and organizations,” according to the report.

This is one reason that, here at FullSail, we see a rise in the number of companies creating internal “swag shops.” Our customers create online stores with branded swag, then give their employees a set amount (say, $85) that they can spend in the store however they want.

Branded Swag

Think about it like giving your employees accounts with Amazon, pre-loaded with $85 in credit. But instead of choosing from cosmetics, shoes, or electronics, they choose from your company’s branded t-shirts, sweatshirts, mugs, and tote bags.

Your employees log into the store and are greeted with the options you select. They can then take that allotment, however much you choose, and go shopping. They can use the entire amount to purchase one high-value item, such as a branded leather tote bag or thick, comfy hoodie. Or they can use it to purchase a variety of smaller items, such as branded insulated cups or caps.

Whatever they select, your employees feel valued and appreciated.

So why set up a company swag store? Giving away branded swag to your employees is great for boosting morale. However, our customers find that letting them choose their own swag is even better. When that gift arrives, it has much more value and creates a greater sense of pride. Plus, when they wear those branded items, they are walking billboards for your company, too.
